I was having some trouble with the #5 vise. Guitars were slipping out of the grip of the vise. It was happening very gradually, which was extra scary because at first the guitars seemed very stable. I decided to make several types of supports in order to provide the needed stability and prevent slippage. Here is what I came up with. A flat support, a 9.5" radius fretboard support of baseplate thicknesses .75" and .4," a 1" radius neck support again with a .4" and .75" baseplate thickness, a matching cork-gluing caul, and a domra neck support and matching gluing caul. I hope these are usueful to you. The #5 vise is a great tool and I am really happy that it is back in my rotation!
